Collection: New Work

This "string of pearls" of the moon passing through its eclipse was made by taking an image of the moon every 5 minutes throughout the eclipse.?ÿ It was a beautiful site despite the brutal wind and cold!

Spruce sheltered by golden aspen.?ÿ I love the rich color of backlit aspen!

The setting moon illuminated the foreground in this shot.?ÿ I was amazed how well the tree silhouette matches the core of the Milky Way.?ÿ It makes for a striking shot.

I love the panorama at Wilkerson Pass overlooking the Collegiate Range any time of year.?ÿ But at dusk in the fall - spectacular!

Starlight from the Milky Way highlights the curves of the dunes while a faint aurora glows above.  A magic night at Great Sand Dunes National Park!

It took several tries for the flowers and sky to come together to make this image.?ÿ In the end, I was very happy in the way the sunset-colored clouds complement the flowers!

It is spectacular to be high above the tree line in the summer!?ÿ The mountains seem to go forever, with flowers adding their special colors.

The mountains and flowers in summer are breathtaking - both from the views and the climb!

Golden Aspen stretch towards heaven against the deep blue sky.

The red rocks of Sedona, Arizona are spectacular, particularly from the Subway area.  Add the Milky Way .... majestic!

I was captured by these isolated aspen, clad in their bright fall colors, interspersed amid the conifers.  Add a spotlight from the sun, and they really glow!

The Blue Lakes are beautiful: tall conifers grace the shoreline with the waterfall from the upper lake cascading amid the granite and golden shrubbery.

A peaceful evening at the Hornbeck Homestead, with the Milky Way (and a few light clouds) glowing in the night sky.

Backlit orange aspen leaves truly glow in the afternoon light, here framing a Colorado Vista reaching all the way to the Collegiate Range in the distance.  Colorado in all its Fall glory!  

While I understand that some people like to explore old mines, the thought of trying to reach this one near Creede - and then falling into some deep dark shaft - strikes me as too much for my old body!  

Hallett Peak and Dream Lake are beautiful year round, but I especially enjoy the quiet solitude of the snowclad mountains and frozen lake, lit by the moon and star trails!

I love the intense colors in the sky in late dusk, and how they color the frozen Dream Lake basin with a soft magenta glow at Rocky Mountain National Park. 

The red glow from the horizon highlights rocky outcrops in front of the purples of the early dawn: what's not to love?  The colors of nature at their finest!

Colorado has a wondrous variety of spring flowers, such as this cluster in our yard!

One of my favorite winter hikes is at Spruce Mountain.?ÿ The snow emphasizes the rugged cliffsides, while fog and falling snow adds depth and peace to the landscape.?ÿ?ÿ

A favorite nearby hike in the Front Range is Limbaugh canyon: aspen, summer flowers, and gentle breezes always make for a peaceful visit.

I planned this shot for a while, waiting for a particularly clear night to reduce the light pollution and allow the full glory of the Milky Way to shine through.?ÿ Alas, after over five tries, I realized there was just too much light from Colorado Springs.?ÿ For this composite image I used a sky from the prior night.?ÿ But this is what it would have looked like! ?ÿ

I found this beaver lodge along the alpine loop in the San Juans as nature was preparing for its winter rest. ?ÿ

I love the way fog and mists soften the landscape, adding depth and intensifying close colors.
