Collection: New Work

The setting moon illuminated the foreground in this shot.  I was amazed how well the tree silhouette matches the core of the Milky Way.  It makes for a striking shot.

Colorado has a wondrous variety of spring flowers, such as this cluster in our yard!

I planned this shot for a while, waiting for a particularly clear night to reduce the light pollution and allow the full glory of the Milky Way to shine through.  Alas, after over five tries, I realized there was just too much light from Colorado Springs.  For this composite image I used a sky from the prior night.  But this is what it would have looked like!  

I love the panorama at Wilkerson Pass overlooking the Collegiate Range any time of year.  But at dusk in the fall - spectacular!

I love the layers of hills and mountains that can be seen in Colorado.  The scenery goes on seemingly forever ....

This is a favorite view at Mueller State Park,  The rugged granite outcrops, pine and aspen trees are lit by moonlight with the Collegiate range in the distance and the stars shimmering above.  

Spruce Mountain is wonderful in winter when the fog and falling snow add depth to the sleeping landscape.

One of my favorite winter hikes is at Spruce Mountain.  The snow emphasizes the rugged cliffsides, while fog and falling snow adds depth and peace to the landscape.  

The peace of a winter snowfall, it's hush enhancing the whisper of the softly falling flakes.  

It took several tries for the flowers and sky to come together to make this image.  In the end, I was very happy in the way the sunset-colored clouds complement the flowers!

Boulder Mountain rises from the red-rock desert of central Utah as a lush, green oasis.  It makes a beautiful contrast in this landscape photograph.

A favorite nearby hike in the Front Range is Limbaugh canyon: aspen, summer flowers, and gentle breezes always make for a peaceful visit.

It is spectacular to be high above the tree line in the summer!  The mountains seem to go forever, with flowers adding their special colors.

The mountains and flowers in summer are breathtaking - both from the views and the climb!

I found this beaver lodge along the alpine loop in the San Juans as nature was preparing for its winter rest.  

I love the towering white trunks of aspen, and the way the golden crown mirror the leafless trees below.

Butterflies and flowers always bring joy to summer!

I love the way fog and mists soften the landscape, adding depth and intensifying close colors.

This view in the San Juans is one of my favorites, especially as the ruddy light of the setting sun highlights the distant mountain peaks.  I'd love to spend some time living in that cabin!
