This "string of pearls" of the moon passing through its eclipse was made by taking an image of the moon every 5 minutes throughout the eclipse.?ÿ It was a beautiful site despite the brutal wind and cold!

Starlight from the Milky Way highlights the curves of the dunes while a faint aurora glows above.  A magic night at Great Sand Dunes National Park!

The Royal Gorge is always spectacular, and I've photographed it numerous time.  This image with the Milky Way rising over the gorge (and it's sister image Dusk at Royal Gorge) is finally a couple I'm proud of!

The red rocks of Sedona, Arizona are spectacular, particularly from the Subway area.  Add the Milky Way .... majestic!

I was captured by these isolated aspen, clad in their bright fall colors, interspersed amid the conifers.  Add a spotlight from the sun, and they really glow!

The Royal Gorge is spectacular, but can be difficult to photograph due to either very high contrast sun and shade, or little contrast when it is cloudy.  This dusk image solved those problems: the last glow from sunset created a beautiful mix of light and shadows, brought out the pink and reds of the rocks, and added color to the sky from the Belt of Venus.

Late Winter is always a challenging time: we're anxious for Spring's arrival, but Mother Nature takes her time and we must be patient.  It's easy to write off "mud season" as a loss, but there is still a lot of beauty to be found, just more subtle than the other seasons.

I love the layers of hills and mountains that can be seen in Colorado.?ÿ The scenery goes on seemingly forever ....

Butterflies and flowers always bring joy to summer!

The historical church near the Penetente canyons certainly has a spectacular view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains.  Here a hawk serves as sentinel.  

I hate the wildfires we've been having this summer - the destruction is heartbreaking.  But they do lead to beautiful sunsets, such as this one captured from Lincoln Mountain in Douglas County.  

I am fascinated by the delicate patterns that wind blown grasses can make in sand.  Add the shadows of a setting sun to bring out the textures and draw the grass onto the sand, and it can be spectacular!

I love the ancient Bristlecone Pines at the Crags, probably because their steady patience through the years and the beautiful views they command hold an important lesson!

Spruce Mountain is wonderful in winter when the fog and falling snow add depth to the sleeping landscape.
