A lone cabin sits amidst the fall splendor in the San Juan Mountains.  I'd love to live there ... although perhaps not in January!

It was a photographers dream: there had been a light snow overnight, yet we woke to a sunny morning.  The warmth of the sun quickly created wispy fog and low clouds, playing hide and seek with the gold and orange aspen trees.  It all made for a glorious fine art photograph!

I was taken by this location while hiking along the Slate River near Crested Butte Colorado and thought it would make a great landscape photo.  I love the weathered stumps interspersed with wildflowers, and the lazy river leading the eye to Crested Butte Mountain gently reflecting the evening glow in the western sky.  

This is another image from my amazing sunset hike along the Slate river near Crested Butte, Colorado.  I was captured by the composition and colors in this mountain scene: the blues and greens of the mountains and trees; the way the clouds are tinted pale lavender, the light on the river and foreground vegetation, and the winding river leading you into the scene.  All in all, a beautiful and peaceful fine art landscape photography print!

There is something magical about fog - perhaps our imaginations are set free to dream endless possibilities of what we'll find as we explore.  This morning the wind, snow, and fog coated the trees and bushes with the ice crystals of rime, further turning Spruce Mountain in to a fanciful landscape.  Fine Art Landscape Photography by John McClusky.  

I still remember the first time I saw Wilkerson Pass.  It isn't really high as far as Colorado passes go, but it sure is spectacular: suddenly one is looking over the huge South Park valley to the grand Collegiate Peaks of the Sawatch Range...a spectacular view any time of year!

The rich colors of late fall and snow-capped mountains: perfection!

As the fog lifts, clouds cascade over the the mountain ridgeline as seen from Mt. Herman near Monument, CO.

On a trip through Arizona with my wife last December, we spent some time at Canyon de Chelly.  It's an amazing spot: deep, narrow canyons, Spider Rock pictured here, and of course the 700+ year old ruins built by the Ancient Puebloans.  If only our houses would last so long! I was drawn to this early-morning fine art landscape photography print by the delicate light on the cliff walls, the contrasting warm highlights and cool shadows, and the sense of depth created by the foreground and the layers within the canyon.  It was a magical moment!  

The changing moods of Rocky Mountain National Park fascinate me. We brought my mother to Rocky Mountain National Park for a snowy day, and while we weren't about to do much hiking, it was still a wonderful visit. The falling snow hindered views of the mountain peaks, but made for dramatic, moody scenes, such as this landscape image, as distant mountainsides lurked behind snow squalls.  

I love the way the last light of the setting sun lights up the granite rocks, golden aspen, pines, and the distant peaks.

A golden meadow, aspen turning yellow and orange, a pine forest, and snow-capped East Beckwith Mountain standing above them all.  Beautiful!

My wife and I spent time in the San Juan Mountains of southern Colorado this fall, and it was a spectacular experience.  These mountains are always breathtaking, and the fall colors and snowy mountains enhanced the beauty.  I captured this fine art landscape photograph as we drove through the San Juans, mesmerized by the endless variety of mountains, aspens, and evergreens.  

This view in the San Juans is one of my favorites, especially as the ruddy light of the setting sun highlights the distant mountain peaks.  I'd love to spend some time living in that cabin!

Stunning mountains, golden aspen, and a lake.  Who could ask for more?

I love the way the mountains and clouds were perfectly reflected in beautiful Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.  

Boulder Mountain rises from the red-rock desert of central Utah as a lush, green oasis.  It makes a beautiful contrast in this landscape photograph.

I love the flowers growing amid the granite rocks, the glow of first light on the distant mountains, and sunlight gracing the tips of the foreground trees.  It was a magical sunrise off Wolf Creek Pass.

A friend and I hiked the Great Sand Dunes National Park at the end of March. It was an amazing time: the dunes were partially covered with snow, creating dramatic views of the dunes such as this one. It was also _very_ windy, as you can tell from the sand and snow blowing off the crests of the dunes. The contrast between the snow and dark sand, the graceful curves of the dunes, the wind patterns in the sand, and the shadows cast by the setting sun all added up to a magical evening!

As spring approaches, the lengthening days can start to melt streams frozen by the wrath of winter. I love the delicate mists that can rise from these creeks in the early morning, especially when they catch the light of early dawn.

It is spectacular to be high above the tree line in the summer!  The mountains seem to go forever, with flowers adding their special colors.

Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods are always beautiful, but when you add a full supermoon and the red glow of the rising sun it becomes magical. I love the way the cliffs glow in the first light!
