Collection: New Work

Mesa arch provides a spectacular natural frame around the chimneys and mesas of Canyonlands National Park, with the La Sal Mountains in the distance.

The red glow from the horizon highlights rocky outcrops in front of the purples of the early dawn: what's not to love?  The colors of nature at their finest!

The Winter Milky Way isn't photographed as commonly as the brighter summer Milky Way, but I still find beauty in its delicate shimmer.  You can also see the Orion, Flame, and Rosetta nebulas, and multiple star clusters glowing over the snow-clad peaks!

I love the layers of hills and mountains that can be seen in Colorado.?ÿ The scenery goes on seemingly forever ....

This is a favorite view at Mueller State Park,?ÿ The rugged granite outcrops, pine and aspen trees are lit by moonlight with the Collegiate range in the distance and the stars shimmering above.?ÿ?ÿ

One of my favorite winter hikes is at Spruce Mountain.?ÿ The snow emphasizes the rugged cliffsides, while fog and falling snow adds depth and peace to the landscape.?ÿ?ÿ

Boulder Mountain rises from the red-rock desert of central Utah as a lush, green oasis.?ÿ It makes a beautiful contrast in this landscape photograph.

A favorite nearby hike in the Front Range is Limbaugh canyon: aspen, summer flowers, and gentle breezes always make for a peaceful visit.

I planned this shot for a while, waiting for a particularly clear night to reduce the light pollution and allow the full glory of the Milky Way to shine through.?ÿ Alas, after over five tries, I realized there was just too much light from Colorado Springs.?ÿ For this composite image I used a sky from the prior night.?ÿ But this is what it would have looked like! ?ÿ

I found this beaver lodge along the alpine loop in the San Juans as nature was preparing for its winter rest. ?ÿ

I love the towering white trunks of aspen, and the way the golden crown mirror the leafless trees below.

This view in the San Juans is one of my favorites, especially as the ruddy light of the setting sun highlights the distant mountain peaks.   I'd love to spend some time living in that cabin!

Beaver have been at work here, making lush blue ponds amid the golden fall shrubbery and below the first snows of winter.  Truly a safe haven for all life!

Grasses by the side of the lake, patiently waiting though the harsh winter for the warmth of Spring.

The moon shines over Sprague Lake while the rising sun lights the snowy peaks with its ruddy glow.  Peaceful beauty at Rocky Mountain National Park!

The Crags is one of my favorite local hikes: it offers spectacular views both near and far.  Here the distant Collegiate Range, bathed in the glow of sunrise, peaks through intervening hills  rising above a sea of fog.

The last light on the horizon lights Long's Peak above frozen Bear Lake as stars twinkle above.  Rock Mountain National Park.

Spruce Mountain is wonderful in winter when the fog and falling snow add depth to the sleeping landscape.

The peace of a winter snowfall, it's hush enhancing the whisper of the softly falling flakes.?ÿ?ÿ
