Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods are always beautiful, but when you add a full supermoon and the red glow of the rising sun it becomes magical. I love the way the cliffs glow in the first light!

This is another image from my amazing sunset hike along the Slate river near Crested Butte, Colorado.?ÿ I was captured by the composition and colors in this mountain scene: the blues and greens of the mountains and trees; the way the clouds are tinted pale lavender, the light on the river and foreground vegetation, and the winding river leading you into the scene.?ÿ All in all, a beautiful?ÿand peaceful fine art landscape photography print!

I love dusk: the soft light and bands of color on the horizon are beautiful.?ÿ Add the silhouette of a shapely tree and backlit grass tufts catching the light, and the results are spectacular!

Boulder Mountain rises from the red-rock desert of central Utah as a lush, green oasis.?ÿ It makes a beautiful contrast in this landscape photograph.

Mesa arch provides a spectacular natural frame around the chimneys and mesas of Canyonlands National Park, with the La Sal Mountains in the distance.

Grasses by the side of the lake, patiently waiting though the harsh winter for the warmth of Spring.

Late Winter is always a challenging time: we're anxious for Spring's arrival, but Mother Nature takes her time and we must be patient.  It's easy to write off "mud season" as a loss, but there is still a lot of beauty to be found, just more subtle than the other seasons.

While hiking in a wooded are in the mountains surrounding Pikes Peak, I came upon this cluster of wild rose blossoms and had to?ÿshoot this nature photo.?ÿ I loved the flowers, the contrast between the pink petals and the green foliage, as well as the texture of the granite.?ÿ These bees loved these flowers as much as I did!

I am fascinated by the delicate patterns that wind blown grasses can make in sand.  Add the shadows of a setting sun to bring out the textures and draw the grass onto the sand, and it can be spectacular!

The Winter Milky Way isn't photographed as commonly as the brighter summer Milky Way, but I still find beauty in its delicate shimmer.  You can also see the Orion, Flame, and Rosetta nebulas, and multiple star clusters glowing over the snow-clad peaks!

After months of waiting, the weather, snow, moon, and the Milky Way all aligned for an image I'd been planning for quite some time: the full arc of the Milky Way over a snow-bejeweled Hornbeck Homestead lit by the setting moon. I can't say it was an easy shot: getting up before 2 AM for an hour drive, then several hours shooting at 4 degrees F; But at least there wasn't a wind! The final result makes the icy fingers and toes well worth it. This fine art astro-image really takes me back: back to the peaceful awe that night, soaking in the the splendor of the night sky as the exposures ticked by; the reflected moon in snowflakes that mirrored the stars festooning the sky; and, perhaps, a simpler time living within nature on the frontier when the homestead was a home to a vibrant family and ranch hands. There is wonderful detail in this image that social media - or even web postings - cannot show, so I've included a zoom-in of the homestead upper window as an example. I can imagine children, a century ago, peering through that window at night, lost in awe at the night sky and the beauty surrounding them.
