A winter's Sunrise in Rocky Mountain National Park, with the moon glowing above. I love the rich yellows and oranges of the valley contrasting with the bright blue sky over the snowy mountains.  A perfect peaceful morning!

The moon shines over Sprague Lake while the rising sun lights the snowy peaks with its ruddy glow.  Peaceful beauty at Rocky Mountain National Park!

The snow-clad Sangre de Cristo mountains shimmer behind granite outcrops on Pikes Peak.  

The Crags is one of my favorite local hikes: it offers spectacular views both near and far.  Here the distant Collegiate Range, bathed in the glow of sunrise, peaks through intervening hills  rising above a sea of fog.

Mesa arch provides a spectacular natural frame around the chimneys and mesas of Canyonlands National Park, with the La Sal Mountains in the distance.

I was struck how a beam of sun made the golden aspen and cottonwoods glow at the entrance to the mountain valley!

The Blue Lakes are beautiful: tall conifers grace the shoreline with the waterfall from the upper lake cascading amid the granite and golden shrubbery.

I love the intense colors in the sky in late dusk, and how they color the frozen Dream Lake basin with a soft magenta glow at Rocky Mountain National Park. 

Hallett Peak and Dream Lake are beautiful year round, but I especially enjoy the quiet solitude of the snowclad mountains and frozen lake, lit by the moon and star trails!

While I understand that some people like to explore old mines, the thought of trying to reach this one near Creede - and then falling into some deep dark shaft - strikes me as too much for my old body!  

I was captured by these isolated aspen, clad in their bright fall colors, interspersed amid the conifers.  Add a spotlight from the sun, and they really glow!

Grasses by the side of the lake, patiently waiting though the harsh winter for the warmth of Spring.

Beaver have been at work here, making lush blue ponds amid the golden fall shrubbery and below the first snows of winter.  Truly a safe haven for all life!

This is a sister image to Stars over Dream Lake, again highlighting the peaceful (albeit very cold!) night over a winter's lake under the mountains.

I didn't know that Seven Falls, outside Colorado Springs, was lit by colored lights until I got there at night to photograph the night sky from Cutler Mountain.  But it works!

The red rocks of Sedona, Arizona are spectacular, particularly from the Subway area.  Add the Milky Way .... majestic!
