Anyone ready for a ballgame?  I loved the way the nearly full moon is held within the branches of these two trees.  

While waiting for a dawn shot in Rocky Mountain National Park, I was blown away by the way the first light on the horizon lit Long's Peak and the foreground pines while yet allowing the stars to glow in the dark sky. Alas, by the time I was able to set up the shot in the rapidly brightening dawn, the sky had brightened enough to hide all but a few dozen stars. To recreate my initial vision I have created this composite image, using an image of the night sky from another night. While not a factual representation of the sky when I shot Long's peak, this fine art landscape photography print faithfully recreates my vision and awe at that initial sight.

Aspen trunks glow in the soft light of the golden aspen grove.

Entering an aspen grove in fall is magical: the leaves in their last blaze of glory suffuse the world in a golden glow that brings peace and joy to my heart.

This was the first time I saw the aurora, and boy was I spoiled!  It was an amazing evening, as you can tell from this image!

My wife and I visited Smoky Mountain National Park while trying to decide where to move for the next stage of our careers.  It was wet and rainy with intermittent sun on the day I took this landscape image.  I had been reveling in the early fall color and dramatic clouds all day, but hadn't had any luck putting it all together to make a great nature photo .... until I saw a sunbeam approaching this valley.  Happily we were able to safely park for me to get the picture!

I love the way the mountains and clouds were perfectly reflected in beautiful Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.  

I found this beaver lodge along the alpine loop in the San Juans as nature was preparing for its winter rest.  

It took several tries for the flowers and sky to come together to make this image.  In the end, I was very happy in the way the sunset-colored clouds complement the flowers!

Orange and golden aspen leaves in fall: there is certainly beauty in the delicate tracings of each leaf!

A friend and I hiked the Great Sand Dunes National Park at the end of March. It was an amazing time: the dunes were partially covered with snow, creating dramatic views of the dunes such as this one. It was also _very_ windy, as you can tell from the sand and snow blowing off the crests of the dunes. The contrast between the snow and dark sand, the graceful curves of the dunes, the wind patterns in the sand, and the shadows cast by the setting sun all added up to a magical evening!

A lone cabin sits amidst the fall splendor in the San Juan Mountains.  I'd love to live there ... although perhaps not in January!

While hiking around Beaver Dam Lake in Illinois, I always admired the graceful curves of this gnarled cypress tree at the side of the lake.  This time, it was beautifully framed by the lush grasses and butterweed blossoms, making for a very popular fine art nature print.

On a trip through Arizona with my wife last December, we spent some time at Canyon de Chelly.  It's an amazing spot: deep, narrow canyons, Spider Rock pictured here, and of course the 700+ year old ruins built by the Ancient Puebloans.  If only our houses would last so long! I was drawn to this early-morning fine art landscape photography print by the delicate light on the cliff walls, the contrasting warm highlights and cool shadows, and the sense of depth created by the foreground and the layers within the canyon.  It was a magical moment!  

The unexpected early colorful dawn sky changed my planed location for my early morning photography hike to the Garden of the Gods. The few minutes surrounding sunrise were hectic, taking advantage of the amazing light. In this landscape photography print, I especially love how the sandstone cliffs glow, reflecting the red light of the sun as it breaks the horizon.
